Since the Stanley Cup was dedicated to NHL's top team in 1926, only eight franchises ( Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Tampa Bay Lightning) have successfully defended their title and won the Stanley Cup in consecutive years. ![]()
